about pilates

Woman performing Pilates stretchImagine an exercise program that you look forward to, that engages you, and which leaves you refreshed and alert with a feeling of physical and mental well-being. Pilates will do all this. It is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk. This program blends strength with flexibility, movement with stability, and balance with coordination.

"In ten sessions you'll feel the difference, in twenty sessions you'll see the difference, in thirty sessions you'll have a whole new body."
Joseph H. Pilates.

Pilates works to strengthen muscles not with a traditional weight-lifting approach, but by lengthening them as you strengthen them. The exercises work on the body's support structure: spine stabilization, scapular stabilization, core control and strength. The focus is on a variety of movement to add strength to the body.

Woman performing Pilates stretchesExercises involve basic mat work as well as unique exercise pieces known as the Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair, Arc Barrel and Fitness Circle. All of these movements are specifically designed and supervised by an extensively trained instructor. THE PILATES STUDIO is a fully equipped Pilates Studio, staffed with highly qualified, Pilates certified instructors.
